Domain Hosting or Web Hosting has many factors that go along with it. Some things are very important and some not so important. What we hope to do here is provide you with as much information as we can to help you make the choices that best fit your particular situation. In the days and weeks to come, we plan to present several articles on a wide variety of topics, all related to you making the right choice in domain hosting services. There are three major areas of domain hosting that need to be covered. They are:
The domain name or “url” is simply the address of your Web site. Technically, the url is a series of numbers that tell the Internet how and where to find your site. In order for us humans to make any sense of these numbers, they are transformed into words, hence the domain name. Probably your fist step, once you’ve chosen a topic or niche, is to find a domain name. There are several factors involved in proper name selection and we plan to present specific articles devoted just to this process.
This is the real thing! The Web site is what you actually create and put on the Internet for everyone to view. A Web site can be as simple as one page talking about something, or it can be as large as you want. Some of the “Big Boys” have thousands of pages on their Web sites. There are many reasons for having a Web site. It can be a simple bio about yourself, or your dog for that matter! It can be a place to talk about what’s happening and to share some pictures/videos. It can be a place to share information as we are doing here. Probably the most common and fastest growing area is commercial and sales. You’ve more than likely thought of it many times – “what can I sell on the Internet and get rich?” I don’t know about the “get rich” part, but we do plan to show you some ways where you too can make money on the Internet. New eCommerce sites are popping up by the 100’s (1,000’s) every day and most people would like to be a part of that. These are additional areas we hope to be giving you information about so that you too can jump into the eCommerce market.
So, you’ve found a great domain name and built the most beautiful Web site ever. But, that all means nothing because it’s still hiding on your computer. You need to make all this great stuff visible to the rest of the world, and that’s where domain hosting comes in. Put simply, domain hosting is when your Web site is put onto computers that are connected to the World Wide Web, the Internet. The whole topic of domain hosting is huge and we’ll talk in great depth about it in future articles. Here are just some of our upcoming topics: free hosting verses paid domain hosting, types of servers that are available, some of the terminology that is used, all of the various options that are available and what’s usually included or not included in a domain hosting package, and how you can find the domain hosting service that’s right for you. Also, some of the questions you should be asking with regards to your specific needs. Remember, if your Web site is a simple personal information site, you don’t need all the bells and whistles that come with some plans. On the other hand, if you plan to start an eCommerce site and hope to make Internet selling your full time business, you don’t want one of those free domain hosting plans.
